Clifford Chance has appointed Lynn Ammar as a partner in its global M&A practice. Lynn is set to join Clifford Chance in September, operating from the firm’s Abu Dhabi and Dubai offices.
With over a decade of experience in cross-border M&A and private equity transactions, Lynn brings a wealth of expertise, particularly in the MENA region. She has a track record of advising major corporate and public sector clients, including prominent national oil companies, sovereign wealth funds, and large pension funds. Lynn's focus spans multi-billion dollar transactions across diverse industries, with a particular emphasis on energy and renewables, healthcare, technology, and consumer products. Before joining Clifford Chance, Lynn served as a partner at the international law firm Cleary Gottlieb, where she spent 12 years in the firm’s Abu Dhabi and Paris offices.
Lynn's recent notable engagements include advising OCI N.V. on the sale of its 50% stake in Fertiglobe Plc to Abu Dhabi National Oil Company for a total consideration of US$3.62 billion. She has also been involved in advising Fertiglobe on various joint ventures aimed at establishing low-carbon hydrogen projects in the UAE and Egypt, along with assisting several leading GCC sovereign wealth funds with outbound investments into the U.S. and Europe.
“Lynn will be a great addition to our team”, said Mohammed Al-Shukairy, Clifford Chance’s Regional Managing Partner and M&A lead in the region, “Clifford Chance is at the forefront of M&A activity in the region, acting for leading corporates, strategic investors and financial sponsors. Lynn’s arrival further reflects our ambition to continue to grow and strengthen our capabilities by hiring the best talent in the market, alongside nurturing our talented bench of lawyers as they come through the ranks. I am confident that Lynn will thrive on the Clifford Chance platform and I look forward to her joining the firm.”
Sarah Jones, Global Head of Corporate, commented: “We are delighted to welcome Lynn. Her appointment further strengthens our market leading M&A practice, our ability to serve our clients, and reflects our continued investment in the region. The Middle East is and will remain an area of significant focus for Clifford Chance.”
“I am delighted to join Clifford Chance especially given the history, depth and breadth of its Middle East platform serving the top clients in the market, as well as its collegial and collaborative firm culture,” said Lynn Ammar. “I look forward to executing cutting-edge transactions with this stellar team.”
Lynn holds the prestigious titles of "Up and Coming" Partner in Chambers Global for corporate/M&A and "Next Generation Partner" in the Legal 500 EMEA. A graduate of Harvard Law School, she is admitted to practice in New York.
With Lynn's addition, the Clifford Chance M&A practice in the Middle East and Türkiye will now boast a total of 13 partners spread across its offices in Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Istanbul, and Riyadh. This expansion aligns with Clifford Chance's global M&A practice, which comprises 900 professionals worldwide.
