BLK Partners Bolsters Legal Team in UAE with Tarek Saad's Appointment as Partner
The prominent UAE-based law firm Khalid El Tamimi, in collaboration with BLK Partners, has named Tarek Saad as a Partner with expertise in General Litigation and Shipping Disputes. In addition to this role, Saad will assume the position of Head of Transportation, Logistics, and Insurance, contributing to the ever-evolving legal landscape of the MENA region.
With an illustrious legal career spanning more than 29 years in the EMEA region, which notably includes a remarkable 17-year partnership with Baker McKenzie in the GCC, Tarek Saad brings a wealth of experience to his new position.
“Tarek Saad’s appointment is a significant addition to our team, and we’re eager to achieve new milestones together,” Mohamed Ben Laden, BLK Partners’ Chairman, said.
Tarek Saad's extensive expertise spans a broad range of legal spheres. He excels in handling high-profile commercial litigation and navigating complex matters in maritime, insurance, civil, real estate, criminal, labour, and intellectual property disputes. His specialisation also includes the drafting of maritime and shipping legislation in the United Arab Emirates, underscoring his profound comprehension of the region's legal framework.
“Tarek’s appointment bolsters BLK Partners’ dispute resolution practice, particularly in the maritime and shipping industry, reflecting our dedication to delivering top-tier legal services to our clients across the region,” Ziad G. El-Khoury, the Chief Executive Officer, added.
In the maritime sector, Tarek Saad has established an impressive track record by effectively managing cases within the local courts of Dubai and Abu Dhabi. His cases have covered a diverse range of issues, including claims related to shortages, damages, towage and marine salvage disputes, vessel explosions, pollution matters, sea-related casualties, general average considerations, ship arrests (provisional attachments), charter disputes, and insurance settlements in the context of maritime disputes.
Tarek Saad actively participates in the legal community, where he serves as a member of the Dubai Council for Marine & Maritime Industries (DCMMI) and holds the position of Board Member for Consultants at the Abu Dhabi School of Law.
