Allen & Overy Appoints Khalid Garousha as Interim Global Managing Partner
The board of Allen & Overy (A&O) has appointed the Abu Dhabi capital markets-based Partner Khalid Garousha as interim Global Managing Partner effective 1 September 2023, for an eight-month period till 30 April 2024.
He is noted as one of the Middle East’s most highly regarded and well-respected M&A and ECM practitioners.
Garousha is currently regional Managing Partner in the Middle East and Turkey and will retain that role. He has been appointed to the position unanimously by A&O’s board. Having worked with the firm for over 23 years, he was promoted to Partnership in 2004 and appointed to the regional management role in 2020.
A&O Senior Partner, Wim Dejonghe, commented: “Following careful consideration, the board unanimously selected Khalid as interim global managing partner. Khalid is ideally suited to take up the role and I would like to thank him on behalf of the firm for his commitment and leadership. I look forward to working closely with him to continue delivering on our strategic aims, staying focused on our clients and people and holding the proposed merger vote by the end of October.”
Garousha who has been at A&O in the UAE since 2000 is one of the region’s most highly regarded M&A and equity capital markets practitioners. He will continue to serve as Managing Partner in the Middle East and Turkey.
