Addleshaw Goddard Appoints Robin Hickman To Head MENA Region
He succeeds Andrew Johnston who was elected the Managing Partner for four years
Global law firm Addleshaw Goddard has announced the appointment of Robin Hickman to lead the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region. He has worked on the region’s largest and most complex financings and high-profile debt restructurings.
Having built a strong debt restructuring practice in the Middle East for over 16 years, Hickman will combine the additional leadership responsibilities with his advisory role as a Finance Partner, Specializing in complex debt restructuring mandates.
While maintaining the firm’s upward trajectory in the region, he will lead the firm’s revenue growth target of 60 percent over the next five years.
He joined the firm’s partnership in 2017 and has headed the Middle East Finance Practice since 2022.
Commenting on the Appointment, Andrew Johnston, the Managing Partner at Addleshaw Goddard stated, “The firm’s next phase of growth in the Middle East will be exciting. We have an excellent team in the region, and I am certain that our best days are yet to come. Hickman is excellent at building strong relationships with clients and is committed to establishing Addleshaw Goddard as the leading firm in the region. Undoubtedly, he will ensure that expanding our business in the important markets.”
Hickman added, “We wish Johnston well in his new role. We have achieved some great successes under his leadership in the Middle East and I am excited about this next stage for our business in the region. Our target is to more than double in size and like Johnston, my commitment to continue investing in our teams, our clients, and the markets in which we operate, will be unwavering. There is a lot of opportunity for the firm and our clients across the Middle East, and our focus will be on delivering even more impact by attracting efficient people and winning a greater share of premium work.”
The Middle East was Addleshaw Goddard’s fastest-growing region in this financial year delivering 43 percent income growth. Since 2019, the growth in the Middle East has also doubled. Early this year, the firm was granted a Foreign Law Firm Licence by the Saudi Ministry of Justice after it announced the intention to launch an office in Riyadh, its fourth in the Middle East alongside Dubai, Qatar and Oman.
