Squire Patton Boggs Acted in Successful Buyout of Glacier Energy for Averroes Capital
Squire Patton Boggs Acted in Successful Buyout of Glacier Energy for Averroes Capital
Global law firm Squire Patton Boggs played a key role in the recent buyout of Glacier Energy, an international leader in renewable and conventional energy solutions, by UK mid-market private equity investor Averroes Capital.
Leading the team advising Averroes Capital was Birmingham Corporate partner Tom Durrant, assisted by associates Simon Watts-Morgan and Jessica Hopkinson. For banking matters, they relied on partner Roy Grist and associate Charlotte Farnsworth. Additionally, Head of Funds Steven Ward and associate Anjuli Chatterjee provided expertise on the fundraising side of the deal.
Seeking to unlock hidden potential and fuel growth, Averroes Capital provides flexible equity investments of £15 million to £40 million to established businesses with headquarters in the UK and Ireland. Their diverse portfolio spans sectors like business services, industrials, IT and software, healthcare, education, and unique consumer markets.
Glacier Energy's expertise spans the gamut of energy resources, serving clients in established sectors like onshore and offshore wind, oil and gas, nuclear, and chemicals. But their vision extends beyond traditional fuels. They are actively embracing the low-carbon future, applying their engineering and technical skills to cutting-edge technologies like hydrogen, carbon capture, and energy storage.
Glacier Energy is charting a course for further expansion, seizing opportunities presented by the evolving energy landscape. The burgeoning transition to low-carbon energy, increasing focus on energy security, and needs associated with decommissioning are their guiding stars. These trends not only open doors for existing energy sources but also fuel investments in cutting-edge clean technologies, where Glacier Energy intends to play a leading role.
“We’re pleased to support Averroes Capital on its investment in Glacier Energy, an innovative specialist that is using its expertise to support the transition towards clean energy. The investment will enable the business to continue its momentum and help drive the next phase of its growth,” Tom Durrant said.
