Sidley Austin Advised Fortitude International Reinsurance In US $4 Billion Transaction With Taiyo Life

Global law firm Sidley Austin has led Fortitude International Reinsurance Co Ltd., a subsidiary of Fortitude Re, in a US$4 billion reinsurance transaction with Taiyo Life.
Taiyo Life has reinsured a significant portion of its whole life annuity business to Fortitude Re. It marks the latter’s second reinsurance transaction with Taiyo Life and Fortitude Re’s sixth deal in Japan.
The Sidley Austin team was led by Partners Jonathan J Kelly and John Grothaus (Financial Institutions – Insurance). It included Associates Sharon N DiPrinzio and Spencer K Caro (both Financial Institutions – Insurance).
