Osborne Clarke Advised Schwabe Group on Majority Stake Acquisition in Braineffect
Osborne Clarke advised Schwabe Group on acquiring a majority stake in Braineffect, a Berlin-based company specializing in dietary supplements and functional foods.
Schwabe Group, a globally active, family-owned corporate group, has been at the forefront of herbal and homeopathic medicine research, development, manufacturing, and distribution for over 150 years. The company, headquartered in Karlsruhe, employs approximately 4,000 people worldwide, including 1,600 in Germany.
Founded in 2016 by former athlete Fabian Foelsch, Braineffect is known for its scientifically-backed formulations with natural ingredients. Its products are available in Germany through its online store as well as in dm and Budni stores.
With this acquisition, Schwabe Group has increased its existing stake in Braineffect to a two-thirds majority. Over the medium term, Schwabe aims for a complete takeover of the Berlin-based start-up, while founder Fabian Foelsch will continue to serve as Managing Director.
Schwabe Group CEO Olaf Schwabe commented on the acquisition, said: "This partnership is more than an acquisition – it is a statement for the future. We are expanding our target groups and looking beyond the traditional health market."
