Matouk Bassiouny & Hennawy Secures Victory For Libby’s In Trademark Dispute
Matouk Bassiouny & Hennawy Secures Victory For Libby’s In Trademark Dispute
Matouk Bassiouny & Hennawy’s (“MBH”) Intellectual Property litigation team has successfully obtained a favorable court judgment for Libby’s, one of the most well-known brands of quality products, in a dispute before the State Council Courts concerning the cancellation of several registrations that constituted an infringement of their globally well-known, highly valuable, trademark.
The court ruled to revoke all trademark registrations deemed to be counterfeit in Egypt, affirmed that Libby’s trademark is recognized as a well-known trademark, and confirmed its legal protection under the Paris Convention for the Protection of Industrial Property and National Law.
The MBH team that handled this case consisted of Dr. Mohamed Shehata, Partner and Head of Litigation; Ali Abdullah, Partner and Head of Tax Litigation; and Hamada Farahat, Associate.
Dr. Mohamed Shehata commented on this achievement, saying:
“This victory reflects our firm’s steadfast commitment to protecting our client's intellectual property rights, highlighting our extensive expertise in managing complex legal disputes, as our firm has secured numerous victories and legal precedents in highly intricate intellectual property matters.”
