Japan-Egypt Water Tech Partnership Sealed with the Assistance of Al Kamel Law Firm
Egypt is making a major stride towards water security through a new partnership. The Ministry of Military Production (MOMP) has joined forces with Japanese firm MIZUHA Co., Ltd. to mass-produce a revolutionary device called "KuSui." This collaboration, brokered by the Al Kamel law firm, aims to begin large-scale production in February 2024.
The KuSui device is a game-changer. It uses advanced Japanese technology to extract drinking water directly from the air. The Helwan Metal Hardware Company (Factory 360) under MOMP will be responsible for manufacturing the device. Importantly, over 70 per cent of the components will be sourced locally, marking a significant step towards self-sufficiency in water production for Egypt.
The project represents a year of dedicated development, culminating in a recent signing ceremony, according to Minister of State for Military Production, Mohamed Salah. A prototype assembled last year with Japanese technical support demonstrates the device’s potential to generate 16 litres of clean drinking water per day.
The impact of KuSui extends beyond Egypt’s borders. The ministry plans to export the device to other Arab and African nations, taking advantage of Egypt’s strategic location. MIZUHA’s chairman echoed this vision, highlighting their commitment to both addressing Egypt’s water needs and utilizing the country’s position as a regional export hub.
