Herbert Smith Freehills Advises New Zealand Oil & Gas Limited on Entry into Perth Basin
Herbert Smith Freehills Advises New Zealand Oil & Gas Limited on Entry into Perth Basin
Herbert Smith Freehills has provided legal counsel to New Zealand Oil & Gas Limited (NZOG) on its Farmin Agreement, which grants it a 25 per cent stake in the Western Australian onshore Production License L7 and Exploration Permit EP 437.
The agreement also includes joint venture arrangements with Triangle Energy (Global) Ltd, which is listed on the ASX, and Talon Energy Ltd (pending completion of its farm-in agreement). The farm-in marks NZOG’s debut in the Perth Basin.
The team from Herbert Smith Freehills, comprising lawyers from different practices, was led by partner Nick Baker, with support from senior associate Emily Reyher and solicitor Yonnie Lipshatz.
Partner Melanie Debenham and solicitor Ellen Frodsham provided guidance on environmental issues, while partner Nick Heggart was the tax advisor. Paris Bree and Chris McKeown were at the helm of the NZOG team.
“We are pleased to have worked on this strategic transaction with the NZOG team, and look forward to continuing to work together as exploration works progress,” Nick Baker said.
