Freshfields Guides DP World’s Strategic Acquisition Of Cargo Services Seafreight
Freshfields Guides DP World’s Strategic Acquisition Of Cargo Services Seafreight
Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer, a prominent global law firm, is providing legal counsel to DP World in its latest strategic move within the global supply chain arena. Specifically, Freshfields is advising DP World, a renowned company specialising in global supply chain solutions and headquartered in Dubai, on its planned acquisition of 100 per cent ownership of the Cargo Services Seafreight business.
The transaction covers DP World’s indirect purchase of a majority stake in CN Logistics International Holdings Limited, a publicly listed company on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange. Pending specific regulatory approvals, this deal represents a significant step for DP World as it endeavours to broaden its presence within the logistics sector.
DP World has entered into an agreement to acquire all shares of Cargo Services Seafreight Limited, a wholly-owned subsidiary of CS Holdings. Notably, CS Holdings is the sole shareholder of Cargo Services Seafreight Limited. Once the transaction is finalised, DP World will assume the role of the new controlling shareholder of CN Logistics International Holdings Limited.
This strategic move, anticipated to conclude later this year, underscores DP World’s commitment to fortify its position in the global supply chain market.
The Freshfields team, spearheaded by partners Edward Freeman and Michael Hilton, with the assistance of counsel Daniel Boyle and associates Ciara O’Loughlin, Max Chapman, Kelly Huang, and Haohan Li, leads the endeavour. Collaborative efforts in due diligence were facilitated by multiple Freshfields offices throughout the network. Tax advisory services are offered by partner Peter Clements, senior associate Chris Gotch, and associate Christophoros Tsangarides.
