Clifford Chance Advised UK Export Finance And Standard Chartered Bank On Financing Türkiye’s Second-Largest Solar Project
Clifford Chance Advised UK Export Finance And Standard Chartered Bank On Financing Türkiye’s Second-Largest Solar Project
Global law firm Clifford Chance has advised UK Export Finance (UKEF) and Standard Chartered Bank on a EUR 249 million green financing deal for Kalyon Enerji, a prominent player in the energy sector. The financing, which is covered by UKEF and KUKE, supports the Anka Solar Park Project.
The Anka Solar Park Project entails the development of seven solar photovoltaic (PV) projects across the provinces of Niğde, Gaziantep, and Şanlıurfa, with a total production capacity of 390 MWp. This project is set to become Turkiye's second-largest solar initiative to date.
This financing represents a significant advancement towards Türkiye's net-zero target and will help reduce the country's dependence on fossil fuels. The solar park has the potential to provide renewable energy to more than 65,000 households annually in Turkiye.
Clifford Chance’s cross-border team handling the financing was led by Partners Sait Eryılmaz, Nikolaï Eatwell, and Graham Brewer, with support from Senior Associates Başar Kırka, Pelinsu Demircan, and Angad Chaturvedi, as well as Associates Berke Avarkan and Tanvi Pahwa, and Trainee Lawyer Aykan Karpuzcu.
