A&O Shearman Advised NXP In Joint Venture With VIS To Establish Semiconductor Fab In Singapore
A&O Shearman is advised NXP Semiconductors N.V. on its collaboration with Vanguard International Semiconductor Corporation (VIS, TSE 5347) to establish a joint venture, VisionPower Semiconductor Manufacturing Company Pte. Ltd. The venture aims to construct and manage a new 300mm semiconductor wafer manufacturing facility in Singapore.
The joint venture aimed to construct and operate a cutting-edge 300mm semiconductor wafer manufacturing facility in Singapore, focusing on 130nm to 40nm mixed-signal, power management, and analog products. Targeting automotive, industrial, and consumer markets, the initial build-out was estimated at USD 7.8 billion.
NXP specialized in innovative solutions for automotive, industrial & IoT, mobile, and communications infrastructure sectors, boasting a global presence and achieving USD 13.28 billion in revenue in 2023.
VIS, a prominent IC foundry service provider, operated five 8-inch fabs in Taiwan and Singapore with a combined monthly capacity of approximately 279,000 wafers in 2023.
