Clifford Chance Assisted Expo City Dubai Launch Residential Projects, Paving Way for Sustainable Future
Clifford Chance Assisted Expo City Dubai Launch Residential Projects, Paving Way for Sustainable Future
Clifford Chance, the renowned international law firm, has played a key role in offering its legal services to Expo City Dubai throughout the highly successful off-plan launch of two environmentally sustainable residential ventures named Mangrove Residences and Expo Valley.
Mangrove Residences will showcase an array of apartment units offering breathtaking vistas of meticulously landscaped gardens and the esteemed attractions of Expo City Dubai. In contrast, Expo Valley, comprising villas and townhouses, will be nestled within a pristine nature reserve, seamlessly linked to various attractions through a dedicated 'green link' corridor designed for pedestrians, cyclists, and autonomous vehicles.
The launch of the two sustainable residential projects marks a significant milestone in the ongoing transformation of the Expo 2020 Dubai event site into a vibrant, mixed-use master community by Expo City Dubai. The development stands as a shining testament to environmentally-conscious urban planning, with Expo City Dubai's steadfast commitment to preserving 80 per cent of the Expo 2020 infrastructure. This approach underscores sustainable principles throughout the entire lifecycle, from design and construction to ongoing operations.
Notably, Expo City Dubai is poised to lead the way in sustainability initiatives within the region, as it aims to become a pioneering car-free zone. Additionally, it is set to become Dubai's first fully 5G-enabled community, further showcasing its dedication to innovation and cutting-edge technology.
Clifford Chance played a vital role in this endeavour by preparing comprehensive off-plan sale and jointly-owned property documentation, facilitating unit sales, and providing ongoing support for the management of these developments post-completion.
The legal assistance provided to Expo City Dubai by the Clifford Chance team was under the leadership of Dubai partner and head of real estate, Tariq Imam. He was supported by a dedicated team including Sher Khan (senior associate), Nicholas Chan (senior associate), Leen Kayali (trainee solicitor), Johnson Cortelek (trainee solicitor), and Hessa Al Qassim (legal advisor). Their collective expertise and commitment were instrumental in the successful execution of this project.
“We are delighted to have supported Expo City Dubai on the successful launch of these eco-friendly residential developments, which will hopefully raise the bar in terms of sustainable living in Dubai and the UAE. We have also advised Expo City Dubai on various aspects of the wider development and repurposing of the Expo 2020 Dubai event site, and the launch of these unique projects is an important step in that process,” Tariq Imam stated.
