Supreme Court Collegium recommends judicial officers and lawyers as judges of Bombay High Court

The sanctioned strength of the high court is 94 judges but it is presently functioning with 62

The Supreme Court Collegium has recommended the elevation of six judicial officers and two lawyers as judges of the Bombay High Court.

The high court is presently functioning with 44 permanent and 18 additional judges. If the suggested names are cleared by the Central government, the number of judges in the high court will rise to 68.

The names of the judicial officers proposed by the Supreme Court Collegium are Sanjay Anandrao Deshmukh, Yanshivraj Gopichand Khobragade, Abhay Sopanrao Waghwase, Ravindra Madhusudan Joshi, Shubhangi Vijay Joshi, and Mahendra Wadhumal Chandwani (presently the registrar general of the high court).

The lawyers recommended for elevation are Santosh Govindrao Chapalgaonkar and Milind Manohar Sathaye.
