Supreme Court Collegium Approves Proposal For Appointment of Judges In High Courts
The Supreme Court of India (SC) Collegium headed by Chief Justice SA Bobde in its meeting held on 4 February 2021 has approved the proposal for the elevation of eleven Judicial Officers as Judges of the High Court (HC)
Besides CJI SA Bobde, Justices N V Ramana and R F Nariman are part of the three-member Collegium that decides regarding elevation of the HC Judges.
The Collegium approved the proposals for the elevation of the two judicial officers and elevation of Advocate, Aditya Sondhi as Judge of the High Court of Karnataka and the elevation of a judicial officer and an advocate as Judges of the Chhattisgarh High Court.
The judicial officers who have been elevated to Allahabad High Court are - Mohd. Aslam, Anil Kumar Gupta, Anil Kumar Ojha, Sadhna Rani (Thakur), Om Prakash Tripathi, Naveen Srivastava, Umesh Chandra Sharma, Syed Aftab Husain Rizvi, Ajai Tyagi, Syed Waiz Mian & Ajai Kumar Srivastava.
The Top Court Collegium also recommended the names of Judicial officers--Rajendra Badamikar, & Khazi Jayabunnisa Mohiuddin, as Judges of the Karnataka High Court.
The Collegium has approved the proposal for elevation of the following Judicial Officers as Judges of the Calcutta High Court.The names are -Kesang Doma Bhutia, Rabindranath Samanta, Sugato Majumdar, Ananya Bandyopadhyay, Rai Chattopadhyay, Bivas Pattanayak, Subhendu Samanta, & Ananda Kumar Mukherjee.
The Apex Court Collegium also has approved the proposal for elevation of the advocate Narendra Kumar Vyas, & judicial officer - Naresh Kumar Chandravanshi, as Judges of the Chhattisgarh High Court.
