New Judges Take Oath at Patna High Court: Justice Rudra Prakash Mishra and Justice Ramesh Chand Malviya Assume Duties
Bihar Governor Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar administered the oath of office to two new judges of the Patna High Court on November 4, the day after their appointments were officially notified by the central government.
Justice Rudra Prakash Mishra and Justice Ramesh Chand Malviya, both rising from the ranks of the state's superior judicial services, formally assumed their roles following the oath-taking ceremony conducted at Raj Bhavan.
On October 17, the Supreme Court Collegium, led by Chief Justice of India DY Chandrachud, made recommendations for their promotions. It was noted that the Chief Justice of the Patna High Court, in collaboration with the two senior-most colleagues, had approved the elevation of these two judicial officers to the position of Judges in the High Court of Judicature at Patna. Furthermore, the Chief Minister and the Governor of the State of Bihar also conveyed their concurrence with this proposal.
Justice Mishra, who entered the state's superior judicial services in 2010, and Justice Malviya, who initiated his career in the Bihar judicial services in 1995 as a judicial magistrate, affirmed their dedication to preserving the ideals of justice and the rule of law.
With the appointment of these two judges, the Patna High Court is currently operating at two-thirds of its full capacity. The court has an authorized strength of 53 judges, leaving 19 positions still vacant.
