He was sworn in as a judge in 2007
The Central government has notified the appointment of Justice Munishwar Nath Bhandari as the Chief Justice of the Madras High Court.
The Supreme Court Collegium had recommended the appointment of Justice Bhandari as Chief Justice pursuant to the meetings held in the last few months.
A notification to this effect was published on the website of the Ministry of Law and Justice. It read, "In exercise of the powers conferred by clause (1) of Article 217 of the Constitution of India, the President is pleased to appoint Justice Munishwar Nath Bhandari, the judge of the Madras High Court, to be the Chief Justice of the Madras High Court with effect from the date he assumes charge of his office."
