Delhi High Court Upholds Personality Rights Of Dr. Mohan Babu In Landmark Ruling
Delhi High Court Upholds Personality Rights Of Dr. Mohan Babu In Landmark Ruling
In a landmark judgment, the Delhi High Court has safeguarded the personality rights of legendary Telugu actor Dr. Mohan Babu. Justice Mini Pushkarna issued a decisive order restraining several parties from unauthorized and defamatory use of Dr. Mohan Babu’s name, image, and persona. Digital platforms, including YouTube, were also directed to remove such content if not voluntarily taken down.
Representing Dr. Mohan Babu, Pravin Anand, Managing Partner, Anand and Anand, led a distinguished legal team in highlighting the dangers of artificial intelligence technologies trained on defamatory material. The team underscored the severe social and commercial harm that such practices can cause.
This ruling not only preserves the legacy of Dr. Mohan Babu—a celebrated actor, parliamentarian, social worker, and educationist—but also establishes a significant precedent in combating identity misuse in the digital age.
As technology continues to advance, this case underscores the growing importance of robust legal frameworks to protect individuals’ rights and reputations from evolving technological threats.
The team representing Dr. Mohan Babu included Pravin Anand, Managing Partner, Anand and Anand; Ameet Naik, Founder and Managing Partner, Naik Naik & Co.; Ajai Garg, Head of Digital Tech & Law, Anand and Anand; Dhruv Anand, Partner, Anand and Anand; Udita Michelle Patro, Partner, Anand and Anand; Dhananjay Khanna, Associate, Anand and Anand; and Alvin Antony, Associate, Anand and Anand.
