Ugen Bhutia is the General Counsel and Executive Vice-President at SBI Cards and Payments Services Limited. After an extensive and enriching experience of working with renowned and reputed law firms including Fox Mandal and Lakshmikumaran & Sridharan between 2002 and 2012, he joined SBI Card as the head of legal function in 2012.
Ever since, he has been leading the litigation, collections-legal and advisory portfolio in the company. As part of the senior management team, he advises on various aspects of the business, keeping some elementary principles in mind. This helps him achieve sustainable business growth while protecting and mitigating the risk to the organisation.
Ugen has consistently been recognised at various forums, including India’s General Counsel Power List - Legal 500 (2016); Trail Blazers India’s Finest In House Counsels – ICCA (2017); India’s General Counsel Power List - Legal 500 (2018).
