Tahira Karanjawala


Tahira Karanjawala is Principal Associate at Karanjawala & Company, a leading litigation firm based in New Delhi.

An alumnus of Amity Law School, New Delhi, she enrolled as an Advocate with the Bar Council of Delhi in 2010 and today holds over a decade of experience in dispute resolution. It includes civil and commercial matters at the Supreme Court of India, High Court of Delhi and various other Courts and tribunals across India and before arbitral tribunals.

She pursued her Masters in Law from Columbia Law School, New York in 2011-2012 and is also registered as an Attorney in the State of New York.

Ms Karanjawala is qualified as an Advocate on Record at the Supreme Court of India in 2020 successfully securing Rank 1 in the AoR Examination of 2019; receiving a Gold Medal from the Board of Examiners of the Supreme Court, a Certificate of Honour from the Mukesh Goswami Memorial Fund, the P.R. Kumaramangalam running trophy and the O.P. Malhotra Award.

She was also awarded the Legal Era Women in Law Excellence Award in 2021.

She takes an active part in the pro-bono practice and public interest initiatives undertaken by Karanjawala & Co which include cases to further the interest of a reformist section of the Dawoodi Bohra community which has suffered ex-communication, to prevent the heinous practice of Female Genital Mutilation and to safeguard the fundamental rights of members of the hearing-impaired community and the LGBTQ+ community.
