jyoti A Singh is a Founder of AJA Legal and Associates. Jyoti A Singh has more than twenty years of experience in dispute resolution. She has guided various multinational companies as well as big corporate houses. She has also counselled corporates, banks and financial institutions under the old regime of insolvency resolution in India.

Jyoti has been a member of a number of reputed insolvency resolutions under the new regime. This was after the enactment of the Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code, 2016. Having a gamut of knowledge in this field, she has also counselled all stakeholders including the corporate debtor, resolution professional, creditors (financial as well as operational), the committee of creditors and resolution applicants.

Recognised as the “Leading Lawyer” in “Restructuring and Insolvency”, Jyoti is the founder of a reputed research-based, solution-driven law firm, AJA Legal and Associates. Her firm imparts core legal assistance to banks, financial institutions, corporate houses, and insolvency resolution professionals. All of these, fall under the segment of insolvency, bankruptcy, banking & finance, debt resolution & security enforcement, corporate fraud, white-collar crimes and other civil and commercial matters.

Enjoying every moment of her time in the legal world, Jyoti has expanded her firm to work on transaction work, corporate advisory, securities, insurance, cyber, and copyright laws for more than 2.5 years. Under her leadership, the firm continuously caters to a number of sectors that include, Banks and Financial Institutions, Infrastructure, Media and Entertainment, Insurance, and Information Technology.

A believer in teamwork and exceptional office culture, Jyoti feels that it is the backbone of a happy office that converts into jovial clients. She regularly represents the clients of her firm and also as counsel appointed by other law firms, before a number of courts and tribunals in and outside Mumbai.

Jyoti has also co-authored a book that reads “Insolvency and Bankruptcy Code, 2016: Concepts and Procedure”. This was published by Bloomsbury Publishing India Pvt. Ltd. A second edition of the wonderful book was published in August 2017. She tends to write for many renowned national and international legal journals and publications. Several articles written by her have been published on Mondaq, Legal 500, and LinkedIn. Jyoti consistently organises workshops and lecture events on IBC and core issues of corporate compliance.

A passionate lawyer, Jyoti was very recently interviewed by the SCC Online Blog. It titled “In conversation with Jyoti A Singh on her journey as a Dispute Resolution Lawyer starting her own Law Firm”. She also belonged to the board of judges for semi-final rounds of 1st HPNLU’s National Insolvency and Bankruptcy Moot Court Competition, 2022.

Jyoti took inspiration from her father, Late Mr. Balbir Singh Dahiya, a renowned lawyer from Sonipat, Haryana. She has passionately pursued law. She graduated in 2000, holding a degree in law followed by masters in law from Maharshi Dayanand University, Rohtak, Haryana. She started her legal journey with Mr. Jugal Wadhwa, Advocate, New Delhi and also taught as an external faculty at Vivekanand Institute of Professional Studies, New Delhi. Thereafter, she worked at Delhi and then Mumbai office of Dhir & Dhir Associates until 2010. Before founding AJA Legal and Associates, Jyoti was partner at Phoenix Legal.
