C. S. Vaidyanathan is a veteran in the field and has been engaging in several arbitration matters both domestic and international while having appeared extensively in various high courts in India. C. S. Vaidyanathan is Senior Advocate at Supreme Court of India. As the senior counsel for Supreme Court of India and the High Court of Delhi, he regularly appears before the Telecom Dispute settlement & Appellate Authority (TDSAT), the Appellate tribunal for Electricity National Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission, the National Company Law Appellate Tribunal and Inter-State Water Disputes Tribunal. He has also appeared before the Justice Verma Commission and the Justice Jain Commission of Enquiry on the assassination of Rajiv Gandhi (for Tamil Nadu Police).
As a Senior Counsel, he has also been involved extensively in a number of disputes in the infrastructure sector including on the Regulatory aspects, particularly in the field of Telecommunication, Broadcasting, Power, Mines, Airports, etc. he also appears extensively in Patents, Competition, IBC disputes apart from Constitutional Law, Administrative Law, Arbitration and Environment matters.
Over several years, he has been appearing extensively in various High courts in India and has been engaging in several arbitration matters including international arbitration. As a law officer of the Government of India in 1998-99, Vaidyanathan appeared for the Government of India in a number of sensitive and important matters including High Value Taxation issues (both direct and indirect).
Notably, he has appeared for Ram Lala in Ram Janma Bhumi case, for the Petitioner in the case. He also argued for making Samskritam as a subject in all CBSE schools.
Mr Vaidyanathan has been a part of several cases linked to Inter-State River Water Disputes including Cauvery, Ravi Beas, Narmada, Vamsadhara and Krishna. He has also appeared in several election symbol disputes and disqualification cases.
Born and reared up in Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, Mr C. S. Vaidyanathan's law career started in 1970 at the age of 21. His education graph extends from Board High School, Dharapuram, SRIMBHS, Pollachi, both from Tamil Nadu and Sarada Vilas College, in Mysore and St. Joseph's College in Bangalore. He has bagged his Law degree from Madras Law College in 1969.
