Taylor Wessing & India Practice Head Laurence Lieberman Moves To Pillsbury As Partner
Taylor Wessing's India Practice Head Laurence Lieberman Moves to Pillsbury as Partner
Pillsbury Winthrop Shaw Pittman has announced the addition of Laurence Lieberman as a Partner in its London office, bolstering the firm’s cross-border disputes and international arbitration practice. With over 25 years of experience, Lieberman brings a wealth of expertise in complex commercial litigation and international arbitration, particularly in the digital health & life sciences, financial services, and technology sectors.
Lieberman has an impressive track record, having represented clients in court litigation and arbitrations governed by leading institutions such as the London Court of International Arbitration (LCIA), the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC), the Singapore International Arbitration Centre (SIAC), and the Hong Kong International Arbitration Centre (HKIAC). He has worked extensively with international life sciences companies, including those in the pharmaceutical and biotech industries, as well as with clients in India. Lieberman also has significant experience in disputes involving technology companies, including cryptocurrency-related matters, and has handled high-profile litigation for Israeli tech clients.
Furthermore, Lieberman has advised numerous international banks and financial institutions, along with their senior executives, on regulatory investigations, often spanning multiple jurisdictions. Before joining Pillsbury, Lieberman spent 16 years at Taylor Wessing, where he was a Senior Partner in the Disputes and Investigations team, Head of the Life Sciences Commercial Disputes group, and Head of the India practice. Pillsbury Chair David Decker praised Lieberman’s addition, stating, “As clients expand globally, they need seasoned lawyers to guide them through complex international disputes and investigations. Laurence fills that need, bringing significant expertise across multiple industries and jurisdictions, reinforcing our strong litigation team in London and globally.”
Debby Baum, Pillsbury’s Global Head of Litigation, also expressed enthusiasm about Lieberman’s appointment, highlighting his depth in large-scale investigations, cross-border disputes, and arbitration. “His leadership will be invaluable to our clients,” Baum said. Matthew Oresman, Managing Partner of Pillsbury’s London office, emphasized that Lieberman’s diverse litigation background and established reputation perfectly complement the office’s strategic role in serving the firm’s global clients. “We are excited to welcome Laurence and look forward to his contributions,” Oresman remarked. Lieberman shared his excitement about joining Pillsbury: “I’m thrilled to be part of Pillsbury’s dynamic team of litigators. I look forward to contributing to the firm’s growth and further strengthening its position as a leader in complex litigation and arbitration.”
