Khaitan & Co Advised Daiwa Securities Group In Acquisition Of 15% Equity Stake In Ambit Finvest
Khaitan & Co Advised Daiwa Securities Group In Acquisition Of 15% Equity Stake In Ambit Finvest
Khaitan & Co had provided counsel to Daiwa Securities Group regarding its acquisition of a 15% equity stake in Ambit Finvest. This investment further solidifies their collaborative efforts, initially announced in May of the previous year, aimed at serving international clients.
Ambit Finvest, a Non-Banking Financial Company (NBFC) under the Ambit Group, has secured ₹415 crore in funding from Daiwa Securities Group Inc, a Japanese financial services firm, in exchange for a minority stake. This strategic investment is intended to leverage the promising growth prospects within India's NBFC sector and contribute to enhancing financial inclusion nationwide.
Ambit Finvest has also raised an additional ₹275 crore in equity from existing shareholders and investors, including Ambit itself, marking a significant step towards achieving its strategic objectives.
Khaitan & Co’s core team involved in this transaction comprised Kartick Maheshwari and Anshuman Mozumdar (Partners), supported by Pritali Patil (Principal Associate), and Ankur Kumar, Aditi Halder, Amogh Pareek, and Anshita Agrawal (Associates). Deepak Kumar (Partner) provided assistance in the area of Employment law, while Supratim Chakraborty (Partner) and Sumantra Bose (Counsel) handled Data Privacy matters, and Anshuman Sakle and Harsh Khemka (Partners) led Regulatory affairs.
