Freshfields represented Sohar International on its merger with HSBC Bank Oman

The merger is anticipated to complete in the second half of 2023. The relevant regulatory approval as well as the approval from the shareholders of the two entities are still pending.

Global law firm Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer ("Freshfields") has advised Sohar International Bank SAOG (Sohar International) on its merger with HSBC Bank Oman SAOG (HSBC Oman). All of HSBC Oman's possessions and accountabilities will be transferred to Sohar International.

Pervez Akhtar, Dubai-based corporate/M&A partner, headed the Freshfields' team alongwith the support of Counsel Abdallah Maher and Associates – Al-Waleed Al-Kiyum and Khaled Al Assaf.
