Freshfields advised Global Feeder Systems' shareholders on majority stake sale to Abu Dhabi Ports Group
Freshfields advised Global Feeder Systems' shareholders on majority stake sale to Abu Dhabi Ports Group
The shareholders of Global Feeder Systems group (GFS), a provider of feeder and container shipping services, have been counselled by Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer ('Freshfields') on the sale of 80 percent of their investment in GFS to Abu Dhabi Ports Group (ADP).
The net value of the 80 percent stake is $800 Million. With 26 owned and controlled ships totalling 72,500 TEU and operating in the Middle East, Indian Subcontinent, and Southeast Asia, GFS has one of the largest container ship fleets in the world. The ADP Group is a full-service logistics provider listed in the United Arab Emirates. The signing of the contract is expected to occur during the first quarter of 2023.
Partner Pervez Akhtar and Counsel Saad Mian of Freshfields' Dubai office led the team that provided advice on the transaction; they were assisted by associates Nalothiya Nambirajah, Lara Dajani, and Mirabel Anosike and trainee Chloe Turner. Associates Michael Bo Jaspers and Tuna Tanik worked alongside partner Rafique Bachour to provide antitrust counsel.
