Cyril Amarchand Mangaldas advised Adani Wilmar on 'Kohinoor'
The transaction provides the company exclusive rights over the brand in the basmati rice category
Indian law firm Cyril Amarchand Mangaldas (CAM) have advised Adani Wilmar Limited, a listed company, on the acquisition of the renowned basmati rice brand 'Kohinoor' from McCormick Switzerland, a subsidiary of the US food group McCormick.
The deal provides Adani Wilmar sole rights to 'Ready to Cook' and 'Ready to Eat' curries and meals portfolio under India's Kohinoor Brand umbrella.
CAM's General Corporate (M&A) Practice team assisted in the structuring of the transaction, review, finalization, negotiation and execution of transaction documents, including the IP Assignment Agreement.
The law firm's team was led by Smruti Shah (Partner) and supported by Aviral Chauhan (Principal Associate), and Devanshi Dalal (Senior Associate).
Incorporated in 1999, Adani Wilmar is a joint venture between the Adani Group (a multinational diversified business group with significant interests across transport and logistics, and energy and utility sectors), and the Wilmar Group, one of Asia's leading agri-business groups, which was ranked as the seventh-largest listed companies by market capitalization on the Singapore Exchange in 2021.
It is one of the few large FMCG food companies in India offering the consumers primary kitchen commodities, including edible oil, wheat flour, rice, pulses and sugar.
