Baker McKenzie advised Mövenpick Group in the sale of Marché International AG to Lagardère Travel Retail
Baker McKenzie advised Mövenpick Group in the sale of Marché International AG to Lagardère Travel Retail
Mövenpick Group turned to Baker McKenzie for legal advice when it decided to sell its catering company Marché International AG ("Marché International") to the travel retail division of the French Lagardère Group ("Lagardère").
With the completion of the sale, the Mövenpick Group can now concentrate on its core capabilities in exquisite wine and food in Central Europe. In exchange, the Lagardère Group hopes to expand its business in Europe, particularly in Germany, with this purchase.
Starting in the first quarter of 2023, Lagardère will take over the management of Marché International's on-the-go convenience stores, airport and mall eateries. Around 150 locations in Germany, Austria, the Czech Republic, Slovenia, Croatia and Singapore make up the restaurant chain.
Mövenpick Group relied on Baker McKenzie for guidance on all legal matters of the deal.
The Baker McKenzie team was led by Martin Furrer (partner, corporate & transactions) and Ramon Tissafi (senior associate, corporate & transactions) and further included Mario Kumschick (counsel, tax), Roger Thomi (counsel, antitrust & competition), Susanne Liebel-Kotz (senior associate, tax), Christoph Reitze (associate, corporate & transactions), Julia Schieber (partner, IP), Tiziana Hongler (associate, IP), Tanya Adams (junior associate, corporate & transactions) and Alexander Eichenberger (junior associate, corporate & transactions).
