Alpha Bank Receives Advise from Akin Gump
Alpha Bank Receives Advise from Akin Gump
In its successful strategic alliance with payments expert Nexi S.P.A. (Nexi) finalised on June 30, Alpha Bank S.A. received advice from Akin Gump. The collaboration led to the establishment of "Nexi Payments Greece," which will offer cutting-edge merchant solutions and products and services for accepting digital payments to the Greek market
By improving payment technology for retailers and businesses, the joint venture among Alpha Bank and Nexi will promote the use of digital payment services in Greece. The goal of Nexi Payments Greece is to move the nation one step closer to digitalization and a digital society.
Gavin Weir, a corporate partner at Akin Gump, led the team advising Alpha Bank and stated, "Alpha Bank's strategic cooperation with Nexi is a significant milestone in the advancement of Europe's payment market's digitalization. Similar strategic alliances and M&A transactions between European banks and financial experts are becoming more common and will be advantageous to consumers, businesses, and retailers. Alpha Bank and our team have a long-standing working relationship, and we are happy to have assisted the bank with such a significant strategic deal. This is more evidence of the breadth and depth of our corporate staff in London, which keeps growing.
The Akin Gump team, in addition to Mr. Weir, includes corporate counsel Christopher Beardmore, who provided advice on M&A issues, and attorneys Davina Garrod and Scott Pettifor, who provided guidance on antitrust issues.
Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld LLP is a renowned global legal company with over 900 attorneys and consultants located in offices across the US, Europe, Asia, and the Middle East.
