CGST And Central Excise Serve Rs.802 Crore Demand Order To Zomato For Delivery Charges
It covers unpaid taxes from October 2019 to March 2022
The Joint Commissioner of the Central Goods and Services Tax (CGST) and the Central Excise, Thane Commissionerate, Maharashtra has sent an order to Zomato, confirming the demand of Rs.401,70,14,706 Goods and Services Tax (GST) with interest and a penalty of Rs.401,70,14,706 on delivery charges.
The company is expected to file an appeal challenging the order before the appropriate authority.
The company stated, "We have a strong case on merits, backed by opinions from our external legal and tax advisors.”
