The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is set to earn a total of ₹48,380 crores from the media sale of IPL 2023-2027.
Reliance Industries-owned Viacom18 has won the non-exclusive digital rights for 18 matches of the Indian Premier League during the media rights auction between 12 to 14 June 2022.
Viacom18 has secured the rights for package C for Rs. 3,273 Crores, i.e. Rs 33.24 crore per match for 98 games.
The 18 matches in package C include the opening match, 4 playoffs, and 13 evening double matches, at a base price of Rs. 1440 Crores, i.e. at 16 Crores per match.
The Company has also secured the rights for the Indian Subcontinent for 410 matches for Rs. 20,500 Crores and the global rights for digital and TV to air IPL matches in Australia, South Africa, and UK markets at Rs. 2.6 Crores per match.
Overall, Viacom18 has won digital rights at a total amount of Rs. 23,758 crore.
Additionally, it has been noted that the digital rights value has surpassed TV which now stands at Rs 23,575 crore for the upcoming IPL media rights cycle of 2023-2027.
While Disney's Star has retained the TV rights at Rs.23,575 crores for the cycle 2023-27.
The value of each IPL match has jumped a 100% from the previous cycle that was won by Star India (now Disney Star) at Rs 16,347 crore.
