NCLAT Admits Meta’s Appeal Against CCI On Anti-Competitive Practices

The matter of the stay will be decided on 23 January

The National Company Law Appellate Tribunal (NCLAT) has admitted Meta's appeal against the Competition Commission of India (CCI) imposing Rs.213.14 crores for allegedly abusing its dominant position on WhatsApp's 2021 privacy policy.

The bench comprising Justice Ashok Bhushan (Chairperson) and Justice Arun Baroka (Technical Member) heard the matter.

In November last, the CCI penalized Meta and directed it to ‘cease-and-desist’ from anti-competitive practices. It ordered the company to implement behavioral remedies within a stipulated timeframe to resolve the issues.

Meta was represented by senior advocates Kapil Sibal and Mukul Rohatgi.
