The Delhi High Court has sought the response of former Fortis Healthcare promoter Malvinder Singh in response to an Enforcement Directorate petition seeking to extend his custody.

The ED plea had challenged a trial court's order refusing to extend Malvinder Singh’s police custody in a money laundering case related to alleged misappropriation of funds at Religare Finvest Limited (RFL).

Incidentally, Malvinder Singh and Sunil Godhwani have also been accused of money laundering, which is punishable under Section 3 and Section 4 of the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA).

The Delhi High Court also sought the response of Sunil Godhwani, former CMD of Religare Enterprises Limited (REL) in response to the ED's petition to extend his custodial interrogation in the case.

Earlier, the ED had sought extension of police custody of Singh and Godhwani till November 28.

Recently, the trial court had dismissed the ED’s application for further custodial interrogation of Malvinder Singh and Godhwai as well as sent them to judicial custody till December 7.

The ED had taken both of them into custody on November 14 from the Tihar jail, where they had been lodged after a case was filed by the Delhi Police in relation to the alleged scam.
