Singapore Philatelic Museum hires Dentons Rodyk

As external counsel, Dentons Rodyk will advise Singapore Philatelic Museum in its restructuring and repositioning it as a children's museum

Singapore Philatelic Museum has hired services of the law firm Dentons Rodyk as its external counsel. Singapore Philatelic Museum is in the process of restructuring and repositioning itself as a children's museum.

"Our scope of work includes inter alia, advising Singapore Philatelic Museum on the legal requirements applicable to the repositioning (including without limitation, the Charities Act and regulations), drafting the new constitution, and submitting the requisite applications to the relevant regulatory bodies," Dentons Rodyk, Singapore's oldest and fourth-largest law firm by headcount, said in a statement.

Singapore Philatelic Museum which was officially opened on 19 August 1995 as a project of the Telecommunication Authority of Singapore (TAS) is expected to be re-open for the public after restructuring next year.

The museum, the first of its kind in Southeast Asia, was transferred to the National Heritage Board (NHB) as a fully-owned subsidiary on 1 April 2000.

The museum is the custodian and curator of Singapore's treasure of philatelic collections that range from stamps and archival philatelic material of Singapore from the 1830s to the present day, besides stamps from the Universal Postal Union member countries.
