Jason Wood chosen to be the Managing Partner of the Phoenix office of Quarles & Brady LLP
In the past five years, Wood, a partner in the Real Estate Practice Group, chaired the group's Arizona chapter before handing off leadership to partner Eric Wanner this summer
Jason Wood has been designated to bring the managing partner of the Phoenix office by the law firm Quarles & Brady LLP with effect from November 1, 2022.
Earlier, in his role as chair, Wood oversaw a nearly 100% increase in local staffing and oversaw the recruitment of several highly skilled attorneys, land planners, and other experts involved in the full spectrum of services for real estate, debt, equity, and related venture transactions.
According to Brad Vynalek, the firm's president, "Jason has established himself not only as a prominent real estate and business lawyer in Arizona but also as a dependable advisor to a varied group of institutional, private sector, family office, and major public company customers operating in the U.S. and internationally." He has an unwavering commitment to his client's happiness and works tirelessly on their behalf. As a native of Arizona, where his family has lived for almost 150 years, Jason is equally dedicated to the success of his co-workers and the strategic growth and advancement of the state. He is the perfect choice to head up our Phoenix office, carry on the Quarles history, and work with his partners and colleagues to consistently improve how we provide our customers with high-quality, effective, and client-focused legal solutions.
Martindale-Hubbell – which is the highest rating awarded for professional excellence – has given Wood its top rating of AV® Preeminent for his professionalism and ethics. As of 2020, he has also been acknowledged by Chambers USA (Real Estate), in addition to having been featured on Southwest Super Lawyers lists for the past eight years and being chosen as one of the Best Lawyers in America (Real Estate Law).
Wood has long been involved in the Arizona District Council of the Urban Land Institute and is currently chair of the International Council of Shopping Centers (ICSC) Government Relations Committee for Arizona and New Mexico. In this role, he collaborates with the Arizona delegation to advance ICSC projects that benefit owners of commercial real estate. Wood has been a member of The Thunderbirds for a long time and has served on a number of non-profit boards in the past.
The University of Arizona awarded Wood his undergraduate degree, and the University of Texas School of Law granted him a Juris Doctor.
According to Wood, "I am pleased to be given the chance to further dedicate myself to my colleagues in this capacity and take on the huge responsibility of developing an extraordinary organization and guiding its bright individuals across the area." "Few businesses can equal our combination of deep local roots—with more than 50 years in the Arizona market—our broad national scope, our dedication to long-term collaborations with clients—spanning our 130-year history—and our collaborative and team-focused culture," says the company.
Leonardo Loo, who presided over the expansion and built beneficial relationships with clients and community stakeholders throughout his term, is succeeded by Wood. Loo also led the Phoenix office through the various difficulties the COVID pandemic posed. Additionally, as a thought leader, Loo contributed special expertise and insight to bear in order to facilitate a number of strategic initiatives connected to the company's extraordinary success. Loo will be taking on new responsibilities as a leader of the firm's International Services team, overseeing and developing our cross-border and international practice, in addition to his current position on the firm's governing executive committee.
