Dr. Ehab Elsonbanty (Ph.D), an eminent legal practitioner in Egypt joins DLA Piper in their office in New York. He has a distinctive background of being a member of several policy-making committees in Qatar and his active role in the management of investment in the international market is believed to be beneficial for the firm.
Dr. Ehab Elsonbanty (Ph.D) joins DLA Piper as a partner in Corporate practice in New York. Dr. Elsonbanty was previously associated with the Qatar Investment Authority (QIA), Qatar sovereign wealth fund.
As a senior legal counsel and head of corporate governance, Dr. Elsonbanty has managed several government affairs as general counsel on special projects. He has also been a member of several committees managed by QIA, which include - business continuity committee and investment committee.

Dr. Elsonbanty has also served as a senior legal counsel to the Amiri Diwan, which is the office of the Amir of Qatar at the Royal Court. During this period, he worked as a member of several policies and legal committees, which included the Committee for Legislation Review of the Council of Ministers, National Committee to Review Commercial Laws of The Ministry of Economy and Trade, and the Permanent Legislative Committee.
While working at the Cairo Court of Appeals, as an appellate judge, his role as the chief of the Civil, Criminal and Commercial Panel of Damanhur Court in Egypt and judge in the Civil, Criminal and Commercial Panel of the South Sinai Court, is remarkable.
Formerly, he has also served as a public prosecutor in several districts, under Egyptian prosecution, as well as West Cairo prosecution. Remarkably, he has seconded to the Minister of Justice Office for International Cooperation and Human Rights.
Dr. Elsonbanty is licensed as a practitioner in Egypt and as a foreign legal consultant in New York. He has acquired his bachelors in law degree from the School of Law of Min. University in Egypt and a diploma in international law and public law from Ain Shams University in Egypt. He is also a master from Bologna University in Italy, in international business, law and public policy. He obtained a Ph.D degree in law from the Queen Mary University of London and Mansoura University.
