Arush Khanna Appointed VIAC’s First India Ambassador

In a landmark development, the Vienna International Arbitral Centre (VIAC) has appointed Arush Khanna, co-founder and partner at Numen Law Offices, as India's first ambassador in 49 years. Khanna, who is a fellow at the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators in London and an officer of the International Bar Association, brings extensive expertise in commercial disputes and arbitration to the role.

As VIAC's ambassador for India, Khanna is set to strengthen the ties between the centre and the country. His duties include building strong relationships with Indian legal professionals and institutions, establishing strategic partnerships, and contributing to the advancement of arbitration practices in the region.

Khanna remarked, “As India aims to institutionalize arbitration, the timing couldn't be better for VIAC to expand its presence in the region. It's an honour to be appointed as India's ambassador.” Dr. Nikolaus Pitkowitz, President of VIAC, highlighted India's significance in the arbitration landscape, citing the impactful programs and conferences hosted in Mumbai and Delhi, and the increasing trade with Central and Eastern European countries.

Established in 1975 as part of the Austrian Federal Economic Chamber, VIAC is a renowned arbitration center representing Europe. With over 1,700 administered cases, VIAC facilitates commercial dispute resolution globally and domestically, boasting a growing network of experienced arbitrators.
