Delhi High Court Favors Wipro Enterprises In Trademark Infringement Case Against Wipro Gas
The Delhi High Court has prohibited Wipro Gas Services from using the trademark 'Wipro' for gas pipeline, installation, and repair services, recognizing it as a well-known trademark of Wipro Enterprises, which had filed a trademark infringement suit.
The bench observed that Wipro Enterprises and its group companies were using the trademark for long and had acquired immense goodwill and reputation. While granting the injunction, the court considered that Wipro Enterprises and its group companies had the sole and exclusive rights in and over the ‘Wipro’ trademark. Thus, its use by any third party for any goods and services amounted to violation of the rights vested in the trademark.
Wipro Enterprises was represented by Khaitan & Co. The team comprised Ankur Sangal (Partner), Ankit Arvind (Principal Associate) and Raghu Vinayak Sinha (Senior Associate).
