Simmons & Simmons Strengthens Singapore Presence with Two New Dispute Resolution Partners
International law firm Simmons & Simmons is strengthening its foothold in Singapore and the broader region by welcoming two new dispute resolution (DR) partners, Terence Seah and Steven Kaye. This strategic move effectively doubles the size of their DR team in the city-state.
Seah, joining from another international firm, brings over two decades of experience in Singapore Law and 15 years of English Law qualification. He specialises in commercial and financial dispute resolution, having advised and acted for international corporations and financial institutions in major disputes and investigations.
Kaye, currently a partner in Simmons' London office, brings his expertise in construction and insurance disputes, covering all forms of dispute resolution including arbitration.
These key hires will boost Simmons' DR team in Singapore from two to four partners. Seah and Kaye will join existing partners Mohammed Reza and Benson Lim, significantly enhancing the team's capabilities to handle a wider range of disputes, both domestically and internationally.
Emily Monastiriotis, international head of Dispute Resolution at Simmons, emphasised the significance of these moves, stating, "These partner appointments represent a bold statement from the firm about our commitment to investing in Singapore and the wider region. Terence and Steven are two outstanding partners who will add great depth to our team and help us meet the growing demand for a wide range of dispute expertise, both domestically and internationally."
Gary Yin, Asia head of Dispute Resolution at Simmons, echoed this sentiment, expressing his enthusiasm, "I am thrilled to welcome Terence and Steven to our team in Singapore. Their diverse expertise and extensive experience significantly bolster our capabilities, positioning us strongly to meet the increasing demand for top-tier dispute resolution services in the region. This expansion underscores our firm's unwavering commitment to the Asia-Pacific market."
Terence Seah, upon joining Simmons, stated his excitement to contribute, "I'm pleased to bring my experience to the already excellent Simmons team and further add to its already impressive dispute resolution capabilities. The importance placed on Singapore by the firm is highly encouraging, and I'm looking forward to working together to bring a larger combined offering to clients in the region and beyond."
Simmons & Simmons offers both international and Singapore law advice through its Joint Law Venture with the JWS Asia Law Corporation. Together, its expertise spans cross-border and domestic financial and commercial disputes; internal and regulatory investigations; compliance; litigation strategy; arbitration; commodities and trade-related disputes, and construction and projects disputes.
