Shin & Kim Strengthens International Arbitration Practice With New Partner Hire In Seoul

Shin & Kim, a prominent Korean law firm, has enhanced its international arbitration capabilities by welcoming Brandon (Hyung-Sik) Bang as a new partner. Previously, Bang held the position of partner and co-head of international arbitration at Bae, Kim & Lee.

Bang officially joined Shin & Kim on March 11 of this year and now plays a pivotal role in the firm’s international dispute resolution practice. His extensive legal expertise spans various industries and sectors, including construction, intellectual property, mergers and acquisitions, licensing, and reinsurance.

Notably, Bang is dually qualified in both New Zealand and New York. His legal journey began as a solicitor at the New Zealand-based law firm Chapman Tripp in 2007. Subsequently, he honed his skills during his nine-year tenure as an associate at Shearman & Sterling’s international arbitration group in Singapore before joining Bae, Kim & Lee in 2020.

Throughout his career, Bang has adeptly handled proceedings under different arbitration rules, including those of the Singapore International Arbitration Centre and the Hong Kong International Arbitration Centre. Notably, at Bae, Kim & Lee, he represented a French-German consortium in a substantial €6 billion ($6.4 billion) dispute against a Finnish utility company in an International Chamber of Commerce arbitration held in Stockholm.

Brandon Bang’s arrival at Shin & Kim further solidifies the firm’s reputation as a powerhouse in international arbitration.
