IBM Announces Leadership Change: Anne Robinson Takes Over As Chief Legal Officer
In a move to strengthen its leadership team, IBM announced the appointment of Anne Robinson as its new Senior Vice President and Chief Legal Officer. Robinson will officially assume the role on July 1, 2024, succeeding Michelle Browdy who is retiring after 17 years of distinguished service.
Robinson is a highly regarded legal professional with extensive experience across various legal domains. She joins IBM from Vanguard, where she served as Managing Director and General Counsel. Throughout her career, she has held prominent positions at Citigroup, American Express, and Deloitte, demonstrating her versatility and expertise in the legal field.
IBM's decision to appoint Robinson aligns with its ongoing strategy to bolster its leadership and maintain strong governance and compliance. Her proven track record positions her well to navigate the intricate legal landscape of the technology industry.
Robinson's dedication extends beyond legal expertise. She is actively involved in promoting diversity and children's rights, as evidenced by her memberships in the Minority Corporate Counsel Association (MCCA), Children's Rights, and the Ira M. Millstein Center for Global Markets and Corporate Ownership at Columbia Law School.
IBM expressed deep gratitude to Michelle Browdy for her exceptional leadership and contributions. Browdy's dedication spanned legal, security, corporate governance, and compliance. Notably, her guidance on mergers and acquisitions, board governance, compliance matters, and cybersecurity has been instrumental.
The transition plan leverages Browdy's experience while integrating Robinson's fresh perspective. This ensures a smooth handover and positions IBM's legal strategy for continued success. The company said that Browdy will remain at IBM as a senior advisor to ensure a seamless transition.
