Foley Hoag announces new leadership for its litigation and arbitration practice

Foley Hoag, the US-headquartered global law firm, has announced the appointment of a new leadership team for its international litigation and arbitration department. Christina Hioureas, based in New York, and Diana Paraguacuto-Mahéo, based in Paris, have been appointed as co-chairs of the group, joining Constantinos Salonidis in this role.

Meanwhile, after nine years of serving as co-chair, counsel Lawrence Martin is stepping down from his role.

"Christina and Diana are strategic thinkers and established leaders in the practice. Their elevation to co-chairs reflects our growth and the seamless integration of our international litigation and arbitration practices across offices," Salonidis, who works out of the Washington DC office of the Boston-based firm, said.

Jim Bucking, Foley Hoag's co-managing partner, added: "We are confident that this new leadership team will be instrumental in driving the strategic growth of the department and the firm."

As a public international lawyer by background, Hioureas currently leads Foley Hoag's United Nations practice group, having joined the firm in 2016 from Chadbourne & Parke. Hioureas represents sovereign states, state-owned entities, and corporations in disputes involving international investment and commercial arbitration.

She is also an advisor to states in UN proceedings and associated agencies, while also maintaining a broad-based disputes practice that encompasses human rights and climate change disputes. Additionally, Hioureas serves as an arbitrator.

Paraguacuto-Mahéo, who joined Foley Hoag in 2018 as a partner from Parisian law firm Ngo Jung & Partners, manages the firm's Paris office. Her practice area expertise is similar to that of her colleague Hioureas, and she also has experience in conflicts of laws. Paraguacuto-Mahéo represents clients in various industries such as renewable energy, construction, defense, oil and gas, pharmaceutical, mining, and telecommunications.
