DLA Piper Strengthens Finance Group with the Addition of Robert da Silva Ashley as Partner

DLA Piper has announced the addition of Robert da Silva Ashley as a partner to its Finance group's Leveraged Finance subgroup. Additionally, he will act as the Regional Co-Leader for Latin America P3 and Infrastructure, dividing his time between DLA Piper's New York and Miami offices.

Robert's practice centres on intricate domestic and cross-border corporate lending and project finance transactions, particularly in the areas of renewable energy, hospitality, infrastructure, and industrials. He routinely counsels multinational corporations, investment funds, project sponsors and developers, and international and domestic financial institutions on negotiating and structuring complex corporate financings, project financing, and other significant corporate undertakings.

Robert has spearheaded financing for utility-scale solar and wind projects, distributed solar generation, conventional power plants, carbon capture and sequestration facilities, onshore and offshore oil and gas exploration and production, chemical plants, resorts and hotels, and regional and global multinational corporations and conglomerates with business interests in both North America and Latin America.

“Rob is uniquely suited to add to the strength of our US-based Global Finance team across several strategically important growth areas to the firm, as both a recognised project finance specialist in the fast-growing US renewables sector as well as an accomplished corporate finance advisor Spanish- and Portuguese-speaking Latin America,” said Matt Schwartz, chair of the US Finance practice.

Joshua Kaye, the managing partner of the firm’s Miami office, termed Robert a highly recognised advisor throughout multiple regions. “Rob will be a valuable asset for clients seeking counsel on widely recognised financings of energy and infrastructure projects and other corporate business interests,” Kaye said.

“We are excited to welcome Rob to the New York and Miami offices and add a highly experienced attorney to our Leveraged Finance offerings,” Cara Edwards, managing partner of the firm’s New York office, said.
