Christopher & Lee Ong (CLO) bolstered its recently rebranded IP & Intangible Assets practice with the Hire of Partners Celia Cheah Chiew Lan (L) and Sri Richgopinath from LAW Partnership and Joel & Mei

Malaysian Law Firm Christopher & Lee Ong, a member of Rajah & Tann Asia, has strengthened its newly rebranded IP & Intangible Assets practice by bringing on board partners Celia Cheah Chiew Lan from LAW Partnership and Sri Richgopinath from Joel & Mei.

Previously known as the IP practice, CLO’s newly rebranded IP & Intangible Assets practice will Encompass Digital Assets, Online Content, Big Data, Cybersecurity, and AI. Additionally, a new specialist disputes practice will focus exclusively on IP, Data Privacy, TMT, and Fintech.

Cheah, who will lead the practice, specializes in IP prosecution and commercial matters, with a focus on registration and transactional work such as licensing. She joined LAW Partnership in 2019 after serving as a Partner at Shearn Delamore & Co, Tay & Partners, Zaid Ibrahim & Co, and KDJLaw.

Meanwhile, Richgopinath spent approximately seven years as a Partner at the IP-focused firm Joel & Mei. Before that, he worked at Skrine for over six years, specializing in IP litigation and dispute resolution, as well as corporate, prosecution, and enforcement matters.

“Together, their combined expertise and innovative mindsets will not only enhance CLO’s existing IP capabilities but achieve new milestones in extending the ambit of a traditional IP practice to encompass Intangible Assets, as well as IP and TMT disputes,” CLO said in a statement.

The addition of Cheah and Richgopinath follows CLO's recruitment of a five-Partner Corporate Team from local rival Adnan Sundra & Low in January. The team includes Adrian Chee, Jennifer Lee, Justin Chua, Jacyn Phuah, and Adrian Yap.
