Global law firm White & Case has provided Legal Counsel to Japan Petroleum Exploration Co. (JAPEX) on its U.S. subsidiary's acquisition of an equity stake in Gulf Coast LNG Holdings.
This stake includes ownership in the Freeport LNG project located in Texas, acquired from JERA Americas for approximately $380 million.
According to a statement by White & Case, the Freeport LNG project plays a crucial role in the liquefaction and export of natural gas from the United States, positioning it as a significant asset in the global energy sector.
The transaction was led by White & Case Partners Nels Hansen and Kristian Bradshaw from Tokyo, alongside Partners David Dreier (New York), Farhad Jalinous, Rebecca Farrington, and Cristina Brayton-Lewis (Washington, DC), and Strati Sakellariou-Witt (Brussels).
The team also Included Counsel Ryan Brady (Washington, DC) and Laura Mulry (Los Angeles), as well as Associates Brendan Harvey and Shintaro Kitayama (Tokyo).
