Taylor Wessing Advised Vestas In Relation To Nordlicht Offshore Wind Farm Projects

Initiated in June 2024, the contracts comprise delivery and installation of turbines

Prestigious global law firm Taylor Wessing has advised the Danish wind turbine manufacturer Vestas on the drafting and negotiation of the project agreements for Swedish multinational power company, Vattenfall‘s offshore wind farm Nordlicht 1.

The deal comprises delivery and installation of 68 V236-15.0 MW turbines with a rotor diameter of 236 meters, including service and maintenance.

The Nordlicht wind farm area is located 85 kms north off the island of Borkum in the German North Sea and includes Nordlicht 1 and Nordlicht 2.

Nordlicht 1 will be the largest offshore wind project in Germany. The order totals 1,020 MW, with a grid connection capacity of 980 MW and an excess capacity of 40 MW.

Its construction will begin in 2026, and the wind turbines are expected to be installed in 2027. By 2028, the wind farm will be fully operational.

Taylor Wessing has been advising Vestas for several years on offshore wind projects.
