Kim & Chang Advised EQT On $733M Acquisition In South Korea’s Waste Management Sector

Kim & Chang, a South Korean law firm, has advised Swedish investment firm EQT on its acquisition of KJ Environment and affiliated companies from Seoul-based investment firm Genesis Private Equity. This acquisition aims to establish a waste treatment platform in South Korea.

The platform will focus on plastic recycling and waste-to-energy initiatives, with an enterprise value exceeding 1 trillion won ($733 million). EQT highlighted that the deal aligns with the growing global demand for recycled plastic, driven by strengthened regulations and voluntary commitments from companies in the private sector.

Additionally, EQT recently made an offer to acquire the New York-listed, Singapore-based online real estate platform PropertyGuru for $1.1 billion.
