Dentons Advised Katek on Acquiring Electronics Manufacturer Nextek

The transaction expands its market presence in North America

Dentons has advised German electronics manufacturer Katek SE on its acquisition of Nextek, a US-based high-tech and high-value electronics provider.

The deal strengthens Katek’s expertise in sectors including security and defence, medical technology, energy, high-end industrial, and aerospace.

Nextek is a leader in the development of highly complex products for critical applications, particularly in the areas of prototyping and low to medium-volume production. It complements Katek Canada (formerly SigmaPoint) as a high-volume supplier of complex electronics.

The companies would benefit from the strong reshoring trend in North America, which is progressing massively due to the current economic and geopolitical tensions.

Headquartered in Munich, Katek Group is an end-to-end service provider for high-value electronics. The range of services covers the entire product life cycle. These comprise developing software and hardware through rapid prototyping of electronic assemblies and production, to subsequent support of the process at the customer's premises, including logistics, after-sales, and service activities.

A cross-border Dentons team from Germany and the US advised Katek on all legal aspects.

The transaction team was led by Munich-based corporate and M&A partner Richard Fagerer and associates Maddie Ladner and Jeff Nelson, who regularly advise European-based clients on US M&A transactions and corporate matters.

The team included partner Frank Tepper-Sawicki in Düsseldorf; partner Richard Williams and managing associate Thema Ladd in New York; partners Douglas Ellis, Bruce H. Chiu, and Steven A. Harris, and counsel Aleksandra V. Phillips in Pittsburgh; and partner David W. Drum in Alabama.
