Buchanan Ingersoll & Rooney adds labour and employment specialist in Pittsburgh

Buchanan Ingersoll & Rooney, an American law firm and lobbying group based in Pennsylvania, continues its strategic growth with the addition of Stephen Kelkenberg, counsel in its labour, employment, benefits, and immigration section.

Kelkenberg, a JD from Buffalo School of Law, has joined the firm's Pittsburgh office. He counsels clients on employment and commercial disputes, with an emphasis on contracts, restrictive covenants, discrimination, trade secrets, and non-disclosure agreements.

Christian Antkowiak, shareholder and co-chair of the firm's labour, employment, benefits, and immigration section, termed Wright's practice as a "great fit" for its Pittsburgh team, and said: "With his broad litigation experience, he will add strength to our already deep bench of labor and employment attorneys in Pittsburgh and across the firm's national platform."

Previously a litigation partner at a full-service law firm Hodgson Russ LLP in the firm's New York office, Kelkenberg was the co-chair of its non-compete, non-solicit, and trade secrets practice.

Kelkenberg spent over two decades with Hodgson Russ as a partner. His trial experience includes both arbitrations and many bench and jury trials in several jurisdictions throughout the United States, including New York and New York City, New Jersey, Florida, and Louisiana.

These cases included employment discrimination claims, contract and property disputes, Federal civil and New York State human rights matters, trade secret and copyright claims, and disputes involving employee misconduct.

Kelkenberg has also litigated numerous New York State and federal tax matters — both on the prosecution side and assisting clients in the defence of claims brought by the government. He also represents clients in connection with arbitrations before the International Centre for Dispute Resolution.

In a press release issued by Buchanan Ingersoll & Rooney, the firm said that Kelkenberg has experience with regulatory and compliance-related matters. He assists clients in responding to federal investigations, both as parties and non-parties, and aids them in all aspects of subpoena compliance. In this role, he works with clients to address and handle internal investigations and formal presentations to regulators and to develop protocols and strategies for future compliance.

"Buchanan presented an opportunity to join a firm, not only with a great reputation, but a great collaborative culture," Kelkenberg said in a statement, adding that he looks forward to working with colleagues across the firm's national footprint and industry-focused platform to deliver value to the clients.

In addition to Kelkenberg, Buchanan's labour, employment, benefits, and immigration section has added Amanda Scarpo as an associate in its Pittsburgh office, and Lisa Hughes Gabler and Samantha Wolfe as associates in its Harrisburg offices. Leonard Jones also joined the firm as an associate in the firm's Newark office.
